I’ve got PTSD – Burna Boy defends assaulting fan at Greater Lagos concert
Nigerian music icon Burna Boy has spoken out following widespread criticism over his reaction to a fan who climbed the stage during his performance at the Greater Lagos Countdown concert.
The incident, which occurred during the star-studded New Year’s Eve event, sparked a flurry of reactions online after a viral clip showed Burna Boy kicking a fan who rushed onto the stage unannounced.
Following the altercation, the Grammy-winning artist signalled his intention to end the performance prematurely and walked off the stage.
Responding to the backlash, Burna Boy took to his Instagram story on January 1, 2025, to explain his actions and reiterate his long-standing stance on such occurrences.
“It was a free show. I was supposed to do 10 minutes and did almost one hour. Everybody knows my rule about getting on stage and startling me when I’m performing,” Burna Boy wrote.
He further emphasized the personal challenges that influence his reactions, stating, “Don’t jump on my stage like that! I got PTSD. I love you all. Happy New Year.”
In other news, Paul O has made a heartfelt plea for reconciliation among Afrobeats heavyweights Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, the 57-year-old CEO of Upfront and Personal Global Management urged the trio to embrace unity as 2024 draws to a close and 2025 approaches. Paul O highlighted their immense individual successes, emphasizing that their collective power could further inspire Africa and the world.
