Olawale Ibrahim Ashimi, also known as Brymo, is a Nigerian musician who recently made some remarks that were deemed to be “anti-Igbo” online. He has now expressed regret to the Igbo people.

Regarding the first anti-Igbo comments he made, the musician gave his side of the story.

The controversial artist has been in the news all week as a result of his debatable and provocative comments, which were inspired by tribalism. Brymo has made the decision to apologise to anyone who were hurt by his tweets that included the phrases “F*ck The Ndi Igbo!! To Hell With It!!” and other disparaging statements about people from the east.

The fact that popular author Chimamanda Adichie accepted a traditional Igbo chieftaincy title but ignored a national honour, the singer claimed, suggesting that this shouldn’t have been the case given that the region should be clamouring for the Presidency. The singer explained his side of the story during an Instagram live session.

After receiving insults, death threats, and the creation of a petition against him, Brymo said that statement had been misinterpreted. The sonic artist continued by saying that when someone requested him to apologise to the Igbos, his response was, “F*ck The Ndi Igbo!! To H*ll With It! “—a phrase he used to refer to individuals who were advocating that movement for his demise.

Brymo said that the phrase “it” only referred to that movement and not the entire trobe. He stated:

“I didn’t insult the tribe (Igbos), I will not do that. I apologize to any one who is saddened by such tweet. I was trying to weigh in on very important matters”
