Blaise, a rising Afrobeat artist hailing from Asaba in Delta State, has garnered attention with the release of two new singles: “Delay” and “My Brother”. These tracks aren’t just previews for his upcoming four-track EP; they show what he aims to achieve. The Afrobeat scene is noticing Blaise’s growing fan base. He’s serious about his music and ready to make a big impact.

Blaise teams up with well-known producer Ozedikus, who has worked with some of Nigeria’s best. The result is a sound that is catchy and genuine. He draws inspiration from Afrobeat stars such as Wizkid, Omah Lay, Rema, and Santi, mixing catchy beats with stories that resonate with everyday life.

“Delay” – A Confident Track for the Dance Floor

The first single, “Delay”, is a real dancefloor hit. Blaise creates a lively vibe with a strong beat, memorable tunes, and entertaining lyrics, perfectly capturing the joyful spirit of Afrobeat parties. His opening line, “Money dey, shayo, all the girls make them dey, no time to delay,” quickly sets the scene; there’s fun to enjoy, money to spend, and no time to lose. “I want listeners to go crazy and have a good time,” Blaise says.

Blaise shows off his confidence and wealth in a boastful but likeable manner in his lyrics. He’s not just hanging out with women and enjoying drinks; he’s showing us how to embrace the present. Ozedikus‘ production perfectly captures the energy, featuring lively percussion and a smooth tune that captivates listeners.

“Delay” isn’t just a song; it’s a feeling. It brings out the freedom, boldness, and rhythm that fans love in a proper Afrobeat track.

“My Brother” – Real Life Stories with a Hard-Working Attitude

Unlike “Delay”, “My Brother” focuses on tougher themes like grit, survival, and hard work. Blaise adopts his streetwise persona, pondering the harsh truths of trying to thrive in a world that only supports the victors.

He confidently states that he’s in it to earn money and keep progressing, not caring about critics or doubters. The lyric, “True colour doesn’t show on the skin” reminds us that what’s inside is more important than how we look. It’s a clever message set to a lovely beat.

The song also sends a message to his “brothers on the street”, urging them to stay strong and keep working hard. The message is strong, and the beat is lively enough to keep everyone dancing. Blaise strikes a pleasing balance between thoughtful lyrics and a catchy sound, demonstrating a versatility that many artists take years to achieve. “Every lyric in My Brother connects to something I’ve lived through,” he shares.

A hopeful look at what lies ahead

Blaise shows with these two tracks that he’s not just a newcomer in the Afrobeat scene; he’s an artist with a clear vision, a strong voice, and a fantastic vibe. “Delay” shows off his fun and flashy side, while “My Brother” adds some soul and depth, reminding listeners there’s more to him than just the swagger.

The partnership with Ozedikus brings a pleasing touch to the sound, making both tracks more appealing to a wider audience. Blaise’s unique blend of authentic street vibes and refined sound sets him apart as a rising talent.

“Delay” and “My Brother” aren’t just songs; they’re clever steps in Blaise’s path to becoming outstanding in Afrobeat. These songs hint at what might be one of the most discussed EPs of the year. If he keeps mixing catchy beats with clever stories, Blaise is sure to become a regular feature on playlists in Nigeria and elsewhere.

Blaise brings realness and a positive beat to the genre. If these singles are any indication, Afrobeat fans worldwide should listen to his EP.
