Ben Chilwell signs contract extension at Chelsea.
Ben Chilwell has signed a two-year contract extension with Chelsea, the club has announced.
The full-back joined the Blues from Leicester City in 2020 for a whopping £45 million and has since proven as a crucial member of the team.
Chilwell and Chelsea had agreed to terms on a new and better deal on Monday, according to reports, and the club has now formally announced the renewal.
Speaking of his new deal, Chilwell said: “I feel very settled at Chelsea and have really enjoyed my time on the pitch here so I’m very pleased the club want me to be part of the project long-term, and am very happy to sign this extension to my contract.
“We are working hard for success and I will do my best to bring more smiles to the faces of the fans who have made me feel so welcome.”
Chilwell dropped to the bench for Frank Lampard’s first game in interim charge of Chelsea at the weekend – a game which the Blues would go on to lose 1-0 to the Wolves.
The results leave Chelsea in 11th place having won just 10 games and scored 29 goals in their 30 league games thus far.
In the first leg of their quarterfinal match against the defending Champions League champion Real Madrid, Chelsea will be looking to put their league record aside.
Two more years for @BenChilwell! 😁
