Bayern Munich secure Joao Palhinha agreement that allows Man Utd to complete blockbuster raid
Bayern Munich is finally set to secure long-term target Joao Palhinha after reaching a deal, as reported on Sunday (June 9). Palhinha, who will become the club’s first summer signing, previously missed out on a move in 2023 despite having arrived in Munich for a medical.
Bayern Munich has agreed on personal terms with Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha, and discussions over the transfer fee are in the ‘advanced’ stages. This impending deal has also opened the door for Manchester United to pursue a significant move of their own.

Palhinha made an immediate impact in the Premier League after joining Fulham from Sporting Lisbon in a £20 million transfer two summers ago. The Portuguese international led all Premier League players in tackles during the 2022–23 campaign. Now 28, Palhinha has also developed a knack for scoring goals from deep.
Bayern Munich took note and attempted to sign Palhinha 12 months ago.
Personal terms were quickly agreed upon, and a deal with Fulham worth €65 million was finalized. Palhinha traveled to Munich and even completed early media duties for the club, but the move fell through at the last minute after Fulham failed to find an adequate replacement.
Palhinha did not let the failed transfer affect his performances and once again anchored Fulham’s midfield effectively last season. The no-nonsense midfielder led the league in tackles for the second consecutive year.
Despite the setback, Bayern’s interest in Palhinha persisted, and according to various sources, a transfer is now imminent.
Bayern Munich has agreed on personal terms with Palhinha, who will sign either a four or five-year deal.
