Afrobeats star, Barry Jhay is out with a new studio project titled, Son of God (EP).
The project houses seven Afro vibe, featuring Ghana’s sensational, Kuami Eugene, and the leader of Banku Music, Zlatan.
Months after his promising career was endangered by a police probe, Barry Jhay returns with a new batch of silky Afropop melodies steeped in the classic flavour of Fuji, the fabled genre that his father, famed musician Ayinde Barrister, helped pioneer.
SON OF GOD is constructed of grittier substance, inciting bouts of contemplation throughout its 21-minute length, whereas Barry Back was the aural codification of halcyon times in 2020.
Jhay engages with fresh thoughts and notions in this salute to endurance and experimentation.
On the first track, “Level Up,” he quietly speaks with a peculiar trap flow that he’s averse to problems, while “Story,” created around Fuji’s storytelling heritage, tells his path to the top of his art and the sacrifices that come with it.

The remix of 2021’s “Ayewada” is a highlight, with street rapper Zlatan adding high-octane ad-libs to the track. The project’s other guest is Ghanaian Kuami Eugene, who joins Jhay on “Right beside You,” a street-oriented love anthem.
