Barcelona have completed the signing of Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal in a reported £8.6 million deal, giving the Brazilian forward a fresh start after four seasons in north London.
The 29-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Catalan giants, keeping him at the club until June 2029. His arrival also strengthens Barcelona’s attacking options following Robert Lewandowski’s departure earlier this year.
Jesus becomes the third player to join Barcelona from the Premier League this summer, following Anthony Gordon’s move from Newcastle United and Rodri’s arrival from Manchester City.
The signing comes after a summer in which Barcelona had been heavily linked with Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez. With negotiations between the two clubs yet to produce a breakthrough, Jesus now provides an immediate alternative for the attack, although Barcelona’s interest in Álvarez reportedly remains alive ahead of the transfer deadline.

Jesus leaves Arsenal after making 123 appearances for the club since arriving from Manchester City in 2022. During that period, he contributed 32 goals and 22 assists, although his time in London was interrupted by several injury setbacks and a gradual drop in his role under Mikel Arteta.
One of the biggest setbacks came in January 2025 when Jesus suffered an ACL injury that ruled him out for almost a year. He eventually returned and featured 14 times during Arsenal’s Premier League title-winning campaign last season, scoring three goals.
Now, Barcelona are hoping the Brazilian can rediscover his best form in Spain. For Jesus, the move offers an opportunity to revive his career at one of Europe’s biggest clubs and take on a new challenge after an injury-hit spell in England.
