Ayra Starr has officially entered a new chapter of her career with the release of her third studio album, “Starrgirl,” through Mavin Records and Republic Records.
Arriving after the success of her 2024 album The Year I Turned 21, the 16-track project captures an artist becoming increasingly comfortable with her global reach while staying connected to the African identity that shaped her sound.

The album’s rollout was anchored by five singles, including collaborations with Wizkid and Rema, alongside the campaign’s lead track, Tornado. Together, the releases offered an early glimpse into the direction Ayra would take across the full project.
Sonically, Starrgirl moves beyond a single Afrobeats formula. Ayra blends Afropop with futuristic electronic textures and Latin-inspired rhythms, creating a sound that feels both familiar and internationally minded. The production features contributions from established names including Shizzi, Johnny Drille, and Ragee, giving the project a polished and expansive feel.

Ayra’s vocals remain one of the album’s strongest elements. She moves comfortably between intimate, restrained moments and bigger, soaring performances, allowing each song to carry its own personality without losing the overall identity of the project.
The album’s international ambition is further reflected in its guest appearances, with collaborations from global acts such as ZAYN and Danny Ocean adding different musical perspectives to the record.
Beyond the production and star-studded features, Starrgirl is also deeply personal. Ayra explores independence, identity, family expectations, and the experience of navigating life as an African woman on an increasingly global stage.

Rather than simply leaning into the expectations that come with pop stardom, she uses the project to define success on her own terms. That confidence gives the album a strong sense of purpose and makes its themes particularly relatable to a younger generation.
With Starrgirl, Ayra Starr presents more than another collection of Afropop songs. She delivers a project that reflects her growth, wider ambitions and increasing confidence as an artist finding her own place within global music.
