Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has once again given fans a glimpse into her mind, this time opening up on how she approaches love and what she looks for in a partner.

During a live Twitch session with Nigerian TikTok creator Jarvis, the Mavin Records star spoke candidly about relationships, making it clear that physical appearance isn’t the deal-breaker for her when it comes to choosing someone she likes.
According to her, attraction matters—but it isn’t everything. As she put it: “Yeah, I have a type. You have to have a type,” she said. “To be honest, my type is not too physical like that because you can be fine and not have sense. It is the truth.”
The conversation didn’t stop at relationships alone. Ayra Starr also used the session to share updates about her growing career, revealing that she will soon be making her acting debut.
She explained that the role will be quite different from who she is in real life, as she steps into a completely new character for the project.
She also reflected briefly on a private relationship that influenced her recent track Where Do We Go, hinting at the emotional depth behind the song and the personal dilemma of keeping such moments away from public eyes.
Her comments continue a pattern of openness she has shown over time. In a 2022 interview, she described Nigerians as deeply emotional when it comes to love and music, noting, “I don’t believe love songs cannot be commercially successful. Nigerians are helpless romantics even though we like to pretend that we are not.”
Speaking further about her journey, she praised Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy, saying: “Don Jazzy is a genius, considering what he has done with his career which he started from the scratch. Being able to constantly drink from his unending well of knowledge is a huge privilege.”
She also fondly recalled how her upbringing shaped her creativity. Growing up in a home where music was a constant, she said they often turned creativity into games—writing songs from given words and performing choreographed routines for family members. Those playful moments, she explained, played a huge role in shaping her artistic confidence today.
On her breakout hit Bloody Samaritan, Ayra Starr admitted she wasn’t shocked by the connection people felt to the song, but didn’t expect the global wave it eventually created. She said she was simply having fun during the shoot and posted a clip that unexpectedly turned into a worldwide dance challenge, with fans across different countries joining in.
From music to acting to personal reflections, Ayra Starr continues to show that she’s more than just a voice on a record—she’s a storyteller still evolving in real time.
