Aston Villa complete the signing of Jhon Duran from MLS’ Chicago Fire.
The signing of the agreement had already been announced by the Fire, and it was confirmed by Villa on Monday. After just one season in the MLS, he will make a permanent move to the Premier League team.
Duran currently has three caps for Colombia at the international level after earning his debut on September 24 when he took Radamel Falcao’s place at halftime in a friendly match against Guatemala.

Duran is just the most recent MLS talent to be sold for a significant sum of money, and the Fire have been involved in two of those sales in the past year.
Both Duran and Gabriel Slonina have been sold to Premier League clubs, with the goalkeeper signing for Chelsea in 2022 before finishing the rest of the MLS season on loan.
Duran sees the transfer as a significant improvement after establishing himself as one of the more exciting young stars in MLS after scoring eight goals in his rookie campaign.
