Ashluxe honours Fela with fashion collection
Ashluxe, a popular fashion brand, has paid homage to the late Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, with its Kalakuta Republic collection. Unveiled at a recent fashion event in Lagos, the collection serves as a tribute to Fela’s indomitable spirit and the legacy of the music icon’s Kalakuta Republic.
The fashion showcase at the event encapsulated glitz, glamour, sophisticated artistry, and musical brilliance, all dedicated to celebrating culture and creativity.
In a statement, Ashluxe explained that the Kalakuta Republic collection embodies the vibrancy of Afrobeat, blending cultural elements with avant-garde fashion, echoing Fela’s passion for African unity and resistance against oppression.
The brand highlighted the significance of officially partnering with Fela’s estate, marking a milestone as the first African fashion brand licensed to showcase Fela’s images. The collaboration signifies more than just fashion; it represents a shared commitment to perpetuating Fela’s powerful messages of freedom and self-expression globally.
Yinka Ash, the founder of Ashluxe, expressed immense respect for the legacy of the Afrobeats superstar.
