Asake reveals the idea behind his new face tattoos for the first time

Multiple award-winning singer and performer Asake has opened up about the inspiration behind his new face tattoos.
Asake finally addressed the viral reactions to his facial ink during his appearance at the 2025 Grammy Awards. The “Mr. Money” hitmaker, who first took the music scene by storm in 2022, sent social media into a frenzy when he re-emerged from a brief hiatus sporting bold facial tattoos and a fresh haircut.
His dramatic transformation sparked widespread speculation and concern among fans, with many questioning the motivation behind such a striking change. However, speaking on the Grammy Awards red carpet, Asake explained that his new look is simply a form of personal expression.
“This is how I feel now,” he shared, dismissing the controversy. “I love to feel comfortable with myself. I love to do the things I feel like are good for me. It’s not even about anybody.” He further hinted at his ever-evolving style, adding, “I might wake up tomorrow, and you guys might not see any tattoos again.”
Asake celebrated a major milestone at the Grammys with his first-ever nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for his collaboration with Olamide, ‘New Religion.’ His song ‘MMS, featuring Wizkid, also earned him a nod, reinforcing his impact on the global music scene.
From his chart-topping debut album ‘Mr. Money with the Vibe‘ to his sophomore success ‘Work of Art‘ and the recently released ‘Lungu Boy,’ Asake continues to evolve, blending innovation with deep storytelling to cement his status as one of Nigeria’s most influential artists.
