Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, who is also known as Asake, was honored with the Prize for Music at the Future Africa Awards held on October 22, 2023.

The Future Awards Africa recognizes and celebrates young individuals between the ages of 18 and 31 who have achieved remarkable accomplishments in the year of consideration.

The award for music acknowledges artists who have made a significant impact in the industry and have gained recognition both locally and internationally during the year being reviewed. It’s a significant achievement for Asake to receive this award, showcasing his contributions to the music industry.

The nominees for the Prize for Music at the Future Africa Awards included:

    – Asake
    – Aya Nakamura
    – Ayra Starr
    – Libianca
    – Tay C

Asake’s win is a testament to his rise as a prominent Nigerian artist. He was also nominated at the canceled MTV EMA Awards in the category “Best Afrobeats.”

The 17th edition of the Future Africa Awards was sponsored by Heineken and hosted by Veeiye and James Gardiner. Ayodeji Razaq, the Executive Director of The Future Project, noted that the nominees showcased that greatness knows no boundaries and that they have defied the odds to inspire greatness.

Asake has taken a bold step by officially submitting his second album, ‘Work of Art,’ for consideration at the Grammy Awards. The Grammy nominations are scheduled to be announced on November 10, 2023, with the awards ceremony set for February 4, 2024. The Academy Awards have also introduced a new category, Best African Music Performance, which many Afrobeat artists are competing for.
