The Beninese singer, Angelique Kidjo dedicates her Grammy to the African Giant, Burna Boy.
2020 Started on a good note for the African Giant, Burna Boy for bagging a grammy nomination even though he didn’t win, but the eventual winner Angelique Kidjo has done well as dedicates her Award to Burna Boy.
She won the World Best Music Album category at the 62nd Grammy Awards for her album, “Celia” making it the fourth Grammy Awards on her Shelf.
The talented songwriter won her first Grammy in the year 2007 under the “Best Contemporary World Music” category with “Djin Djin”, in 2014 her second Grammy Award came in after bagging the “Best World Music Album category” with “Eve”, then later in 2015 for the album “Sings”. In 2020, (that’s for 2019), the fourth Award came in under the same category with the “Celia” album.
Meanwhile, she had nine nominations but successfully bagged 4 out of 9. Isn’t that Awesome?
Her speech after winning the fourth award was:-
Four years ago on this stage, I was telling you that the new generation of artists coming from Africa are going to take you by storm. And the time has come.
This is for Burna Boy. Burna Boy is among those young artists that come from Africa that is changing the way our continent is perceived and the way African music has been the bedrock of every music.
