Angelique Kidjo receives Hall of Fame recognition at the 2022 Headies Award.

Grammy Award-winning artist Angelique Kidjo will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the 2022 Headies Awards.
On Tuesday 1st of March, 2022, the Headies awards founder and Executive Producer Ayo Animashaun announced that the 2022 Headies will be leaving the shores of Nigeria.
The Headies Awards, which honours the Nigerian music scene, will take place on September 4th, 2022 at the COBB Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to the organisers, the Hall of Fame special recognition was bestowed on an individual of African descent who has made an excellent and “outstanding impact on the African entertainment industry, home and abroad.

Asides from the Hall of Fame recognition, some individuals were given special recognition for “excellence and outstanding impact on the entertainment industry within the year under review” in this edition.
Recipients of such recognition include Burna Boy’s mum and manager, Bose Ogulu; Wizkid’s manager, Sunday Are, and 2Baba’s manager, Efe Omorogbe.
Some international artists were also recognised for their “outstanding impact on the Nigerian entertainment industry.”
Haitian musician, Wyclef Jean; American-Senegalese singer, Akon; and American rapper, Diddy, were recipients of this award.
