Nigerian music star AG Baby is pushing his sound into even deeper cultural territory with the release of Fuji Xtra, a five-track deluxe extension of his acclaimed sixth studio album, Fuji.

Released in the early hours of today, the project feels less like a routine deluxe drop and more like a continuation of a carefully crafted artistic statement. Known to fans as “AG Baby,” Adekunle Gold uses the project to further explore what he describes as “the sound of Lagos,” blending modern Afrobeats with the rich textures of Fuji and Apala music.
Across the EP, heavy percussion, layered harmonies, and traditional call-and-response elements sit comfortably beside polished contemporary production, creating a sound that feels rooted in heritage while still globally accessible.
One of the project’s biggest highlights is Formation, a collaboration that finally brings Adekunle Gold together with his former label boss Olamide for their first official record together. Given their shared history, the collaboration carries extra weight, and the chemistry reflects that. The track merges street-inspired Yoruba expression with smooth Afrobeats melodies in a way that feels both nostalgic and fresh.
The project also features Blue Fire alongside Simi, where the pair reconnect with the melodic warmth listeners have come to associate with their collaborations. On Shake Shake, rising act TML Vibez injects youthful energy into the project, adding a vibrant contrast to AG’s reflective tone.
Lyrically, Fuji Xtra leans into themes of wisdom, growth, enjoyment, and self-awareness. Songs like I Got Wiser On My Own see Adekunle Gold reflecting on his decade-long journey in the industry with maturity and calm confidence, sounding more like an artist comfortable in his identity than one still searching for it.
Production-wise, the project feels lush and cinematic, carefully balancing indigenous influences with modern pop sensibilities. It’s another indication that Adekunle Gold is increasingly interested in preserving cultural sounds while presenting them through a contemporary lens.
To further expand the project’s vision, the singer has also teased a live orchestral experience inspired by the album’s unique fusion of sounds. This move hints at his ambition to bring Fuji-inspired music to even bigger international stages.
With Fuji Xtra, Adekunle Gold appears to be entering a more refined and daring phase of his career — one where artistry, heritage, and reinvention all move hand in hand.
