Davido, Kaytranada, others to headline AfroFuture Festival’s U.S. debut in Detroit

The highly anticipated AfroFuture Festival, formerly known as Afrochella, is making its U.S. debut in Detroit on August 16-17, 2025, with a powerhouse lineup led by Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido, Grammy-winning producer Kaytranada, and Detroit rapper Tee Grizzley.
Since its inception in Ghana in 2017, the festival has grown into one of the biggest celebrations of African music and culture, attracting fans from across the globe.
This Detroit edition will showcase a dynamic mix of Afrobeats, Amapiano, hip-hop, and electronic music, bringing African and Diaspora sounds to an American audience.
The stellar lineup includes Nigerian highlife legend Flavour, known for his hit Nwa Baby, and fast-rising Afrobeats star Lojay, whose song Monalisa became a global sensation. French-Congolese singer and rapper Gims, a dominant figure in African and European music, and Brazilian funk star Ludmilla will also grace the stage.
The festival will be held at Bedrock’s Douglass Site in Detroit and produced by Paxahau, the team behind Movement Festival and the Detroit Jazz Festival.
AfroFuture will feature live performances, an African marketplace showcasing Black designers, interactive cultural exhibits, and curated parties by collectives like Jerk X Jollof, Days Like This, Obi’s House, and Toasted Life.
AfroFuture CEO and co-founder Abdul Karim Abdullah described the event as a fusion of music, fashion, beauty, and food, celebrating Black culture and creativity while embracing innovation and global connections.
Presale tickets go on sale today, March 20, 2025, with Delta Airlines offering discounted flights for attendees traveling to Detroit.
