“Bald head vulture”—Music producer Samklef claps back at Seun Kuti, who says Wizkid FC is the most ignorant fan base in the world (Video)

Nigerian music producer Samklef has weighed in on the growing controversy surrounding Seun Kuti and his criticism of Wizkid FC, escalating an already heated debate within the Afrobeats community.
The drama started when Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, publicly called out Wizkid’s fan base for repeatedly invoking his late father’s name in online music debates.
In a detailed Instagram video, Seun accused fans of ignorance and disrespect, arguing that labeling contemporary artists as the “new Fela” diminishes his father’s legacy.
Seun stated:
“Keep Fela’s name out of your (Wizkid FC) mouths. Why must you find a way to bring Fela always into your discussions?”
He added:
“You try to steal the man. You try to claim that this your artiste is the new Fela. Then, when you people saw that you couldn’t wear those pants, that the shoes were too big to fill, you now turn around. If your lack of respect came from a place of defiance, I would respect it. But your lack of respect comes from a place of ignorance. Complete ignorance.”
Seun also emphasized the difference between Fela’s Afrobeat and today’s Afrobeats, noting that the modern sound is more influenced by Juju and Fuji, questioning the need to label contemporary music under the Afrobeat banner.
“Wizkid fc needs to keep Fela’s name out of their mouth. You people try to steal the man image. You try to claim your fake artiste is the new Fela. It’s an insult to Fela to call Wizkid the new Fela. Wizkid fc are the most !gn0 rãnt fanbase in the world.”

His comments quickly drew reactions from Wizkid FC members and supporters, including producer Samklef. Taking to social media, Samklef described Seun as a “hater” and “bald head vulture,” suggesting the singer lacks the wisdom to carry his father’s legacy with proper understanding.
Samklef tweeted:
“Bald head vulture! Una no see bob Marley children as dem carry their papa legacy with respect? But see fela pikin. Him know even happy say dem still Dey acknowledge him papa. Go just open shirt Dey shout! Him get wisdom but zero understanding.”

He further accused Seun of envy, writing:
“He hated and Burna Boy so Burna Boy play am! The fool no know say Burna Boy roast am. Give am him papa chain wey him don Wear make him take the were fela pikin Seun Kuti self post am. Seun kuti the envious bastard.”
The clash underscores the deep divisions fueled by fan loyalty, artistic pride, and personal sentiments within Nigeria’s music industry.

While Seun Kuti maintains that his remarks were meant to protect Fela’s legacy from misrepresentation, Samklef’s response highlights the frustration and anger among Wizkid supporters, many of whom see the statements as both dismissive and provocative.
As the debate rages online, it reflects a broader tension in Nigerian music, a space where respect for legends, fan culture, and contemporary artistry often collide in the public eye.
