Tottenham fought harder than they have in weeks, but even their improved performance wasn’t enough to stop PSG from roaring back to claim a chaotic 5–3 win in Paris on a night where Spurs twice took the lead only to watch the European champions brutally flip the script.

After the embarrassment of the north London derby and the criticism that followed, there was heavy pressure on Thomas Frank’s men to deliver something more convincing. And to be fair, they started like a team desperate to restore pride.

Early on, Spurs were compact, disciplined, and alert, a world apart from the disjointed mess that recorded an astonishingly poor xG of 0.07 against Arsenal just days earlier.

Their discipline paid off, too. Djed Spence’s teasing delivery to the back post found Randal Kolo Muani, who cushioned a header into the path of Richarlison, the Brazilian nodding home from close range for his third goal in three games. One chance, one goal, and that was enough to beat their entire xG from their Emirates meltdown.

PSG hit back before halftime through Vitinha, who curled in the first of several jaw-droppers on the night, but Spurs weren’t done. Kolo Muani punished his parent club straight after the restart, smashing home a set-piece volley and restoring the away side’s advantage.

And then the roof fell in.

Under the bright Paris lights and the weight of PSG’s constant pressure, Spurs crumbled. In an 11-minute whirlwind, the game spun completely out of their control. Vitinha danced through for a brilliant second to level, Fabián Ruiz pounced on slack defending to make it 3–2, and Willian Pacho added another as the European champions took command with ruthless ease.

Kolo Muani tried to spark a comeback with a tidy second goal, but Vitinha wasn’t done. The Portuguese star completed his hat trick five minutes later a performance that was as showy as it was devastating, sealing PSG’s victory and effectively ending Tottenham’s hopes of salvaging anything from the night.

There was still time for late chaos as Lucas Hernandez was sent off after VAR spotted him elbowing Xavi Simons off the ball, but the dismissal did little to change the outcome. Spurs were already beaten.

PSG now move up to second in the Champions League league-phase table with four wins from five, cruising confidently toward the knockout rounds. Tottenham, meanwhile, tumble to 16th but still sit only two points adrift of the top eight.

A better performance, yes. A better result? Not even close. Spurs’ season remains one long, unpredictable rollercoaster.
