Nigerian singer Odumodublvck has opened up about the frightening stage collapse during his performance at the Nativeland Festival on December 21, 2024, which caused panic among attendees.

The event, which featured notable headliners such as Central Cee and Odumodublvck, took a dramatic turn when the stage unexpectedly gave way amid his set.

In a recent interview with HIPTV, the Afrobeats star shared his surprising calmness during the chaotic moment. He explained that he did not panic, attributing his composure to his faith. “For some reason, I wasn’t scared, and I didn’t panic because God is always in me, and for some reason, I didn’t panic at all,” Odumodublvck said, offering insight into his grounded response to the situation.

The singer also took the opportunity to address the complexities of event planning, emphasizing that such incidents are not solely the responsibility of one person. “Situations like that can be avoided, and I think the company that hosted the show, which is Native, released a statement that they’re carrying out investigations with the stage and production company,” he clarified.

He went on to highlight the multiple layers involved in organizing large-scale events, stating, “People don’t know things like this, like when they say come and do shows, there’s a production company, light people, sound people, and security. People think it’s just one person, but it’s good to educate people that there are different factions of this thing to put up a show.”

Odumodublvck stressed that finger-pointing was unproductive, noting that mistakes could not be solely attributed to one individual or party. “You can’t really point fingers at one person, or point fingers at everyone for one person’s mistake. All in all, we thank God nobody died and the casualties have been taken care of to the best of my knowledge,” he added, reassuring fans and attendees that the situation was being managed with care.

The stage collapse at the festival raised concerns, but Odumodublvck’s calm response and thoughtful commentary have shed light on the complexities of event production and the importance of safety at such large gatherings.
