Bloody Civilian bags N200bn lawsuit over alleged defamation of Helen Ukpabio
Nigerian singer and activist Bloody Civilian is facing a staggering N200 billion lawsuit filed by controversial preacher Lady Apostle Helen Ukpabio and her daughter, Imaobong Elijah Ukpabio.
The lawsuit stems from comments Bloody Civilian made on social media, accusing Ukpabio of harmful practices and tarnishing her reputation.
The dispute began after Bloody Civilian responded to a tweet celebrating Ukpabio’s 60th birthday on November 22, 2024. Bloody Civilian’s replies alleged that Ukpabio was involved in activities that caused harm to children, referencing past accusations and suggesting Ukpabio had been banned from the UK due to her controversial teachings. Among the remarks were:
– “She literally made people burn their children alive.”
– “See she’s gotten banned from the UK for her atrocities but Nigerians love atrocities.”
– “We were kids when this happened so that’s why no one remembers she did so much evil.”

The lawsuit describes these statements as “reckless, satanic, and libelous,” accusing Bloody Civilian of attempting to defame Ukpabio and cause significant distress. Ukpabio’s legal team is demanding a public apology and financial compensation of N200 billion for reputational damages.

In response, Bloody Civilian, known for her outspoken nature, took to X (formerly Twitter) to humorously address the lawsuit.
She joked about adding new services to her hustle to meet the compensation demand, including weddings, naming ceremonies, stand-up comedy, and even settling family disputes.
