Sjava Praises Unity and Love in South African Hip-Hop Industry.
Sjava, the South African musician, recently shared his excitement about the growing unity and love within the country’s hip-hop industry.
Reflecting on the progress, he took to Twitter to highlight how far the genre has come since his 2018 concerns about the lack of camaraderie among Mzansi rappers.
In a tweet from 2018, Sjava expressed his frustration with the state of the industry at the time:
“There is no culture in our hip hop. We have ego and pride, with a burning desire to be the most popular artist. That’s the dream lately artists doing it for themselves and hiding behind the word ‘culture.’ Niggas don’t even get along, we pretend amongst each other. It’s all FAKE,” he said.
I am happy there is UNITY and LOVE again even though there is beef there and there but uthando lukhona there are so many collaborations happening and thats what makes the Genre stronger and more entertaining ama Beef abulala iMotion enza ukuthi kungasebenzeki have you noticed… https://t.co/0TK4JGXmMf

However, Sjava is now celebrating the positive shift in the game, noting the numerous collaborations between artists that are helping to strengthen the genre.
“I’m happy there is UNITY and LOVE again. Even though there’s some beef here and there, there is love. So many collaborations are happening, and that’s what makes the genre stronger and more entertaining. Beef kills momentum and stops progress. Have you noticed that every time a genre does well be it Amapiano, Gqom, or hip-hop it’s when there’s love and unity among artists? Once beef starts, everything crumbles,” he wrote.
Sjava’s words reflect a new era in South African hip-hop, where collaboration is driving success and fostering a more vibrant music scene.
