Burna Boy reacts to Summer Jam disrespect allegations
Afrobeat sensation Burna Boy has finally addressed the allegations of disrespecting legendary reggae band Steel Pulse at the Summer Jam Festival in Germany.
The controversy erupted when David Hinds, Steel Pulse’s guitarist, accused Burna Boy’s security team of attempting to take over their dressing room and setting up a barricade to separate the two artists’ areas.
In response to the allegations, Burna Boy stated, “I don’t even know what they look like,” implying a lack of familiarity with Steel Pulse. He further clarified, “I don’t disrespect people. If I disrespect you, it’s because you did something…” Burna Boy’s comments have sparked a debate, with some fans seeing his remarks as a defense, suggesting the situation may not be as it seems.
Despite Burna Boy’s comments, neither Steel Pulse nor the Summer Jam Festival organizers have responded to the allegations. The controversy continues to simmer, with fans divided on the issue.

In other news, Burna Boy was honoured with a BRIT Award during the celebration of the 5th anniversary of his groundbreaking album, African Giant. This accolade acknowledges his incredible achievement of surpassing 2 billion streams in the UK.
This recognition follows a previous incident where Burna Boy expressed frustration upon receiving a plaque for 1 billion UK streams, claiming he had already exceeded that milestone.
In a video of the new award presentation, Burna Boy is seen surrounded by fellow Afrobeats stars Rema and Odumodublvck. Accepting the award, he stated, “You know we have to fight for our right,” referring to his earlier dissatisfaction. Despite his previous discontent, Burna Boy now appears genuinely pleased with this recognition.
