Lingard set to feature in West Ham friendly as Moyes considers short-term offer
Jesse Lingard is poised to make an appearance in a behind-closed-doors friendly for West Ham against Ipswich on Thursday, as the club contemplates a short-term offer to the player.
Lingard has been training with West Ham in Romford to regain full fitness after departing from Nottingham Forest, managed by Steve Cooper, at the end of the previous season. West Ham’s management has been deliberating whether to offer Lingard a short-term contract, with manager David Moyes expressing satisfaction with Lingard’s dedication during first-team training sessions at Rush Green. The Mail reports that Lingard is now set to feature for the Premier League side in a scheduled friendly against Championship team Ipswich.
Previously, Lingard enjoyed a successful loan stint at West Ham under Moyes, netting nine goals and providing five assists in 16 appearances during the latter part of the 2020-21 season at the London Stadium. After losing Gianluca Scamacca and Manuel Lanzini during the summer transfer window, Moyes missed out on adding another attacker to his squad.
At the age of 30, Lingard is slated to participate in the match for West Ham tonight, after which the club will make a decision regarding a potential contract offer. It has been reported that Wolves have also been in contact with Lingard’s representatives.
