    On the eve of the Champions League draw, Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, was named UEFA Men’s Coach of the Year.

    The Spaniard, who led the Cityzens to a treble, won the award for the first time in his career since it was instituted in 2020.

    He was one of three candidates shortlisted, along with Luciano Spalletti of Napoli and Simone Inzaghi of Inter Milan.

    After Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United team in the 1998–99 season, Manchester City became the second English team to win the triple crown. Guardiola, who had already accomplished it with Barcelona in 2009, became the first manager to do so twice.

    On the strength of a brilliant run late in the season, City won the Premier League. Arsenal led the league for 248 days, but due to late mistakes, City won the PL for the third time in a row and for the fifth time in six years.

    Before taking on Inter Milan in the Champions League final, Guardiola’s team defeated local rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final. With a 1-0 victory, the team cemented their place as one of the greatest ever.
