Falz announces winners of MrYakubuChallenge will feature on the extended remix.
Popular Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, better known by his stage name Falz, has announced the winners of the ‘MrYakubuChallenge’ and claims the winners will feature on the extended remix of the song.
Recall that the singer and colleague, Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, better known by his stage name Vector, had in March dropped their song titled after the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC `Mr Yakubu’ to express their views about the just concluded 2023 elections.
However, the song sparked the Mr Yakubu ChallengeĀ on the internet. Many Nigerians, including celebrities, have demonstrated their singing skills by singing their favourite verses.
Falz announced last week that he would be teaming up with Vector to release an extended remix of Mr. Yakubu, saying the top three entries will appear in his next project.
Announcing the winners on his Instagram page on Saturday, Falz said he underestimated the challengers and was now too dull to ignore, as he raised the number to 10.
He wrote:
“We initially announced that there would be three winners from the challenge. We later realized that was an underestimate. There are too many dope entries that we cannot ignore, so we decided to stretch that number to 10! Even this was tough.
“All winners would be featured on the extended remix version of MrYakubu. One of the tracks on the Falz x VEC collaboration project dropping in a bit.”
