However, things appear to be clearer now that it looks like the Portuguese player may be returning to the Premier League and the Champions League.
A clause in Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract with Saudi Arabia giant, Al-Nassr has revealed that the 37-year-old can still play in the UEFA Champions League, provided a certain Premier League team qualifies.

The five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or signed a contract with Al-Nassr that will pay him €200 million year or €23,000 per hour. His contract also grants him the chance to play Newcastle United in the Champions League.
According to a report, a clause in his contract indicates that if Newcastle United qualifies for the Champions League this season, he can go on loan there, as they are owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund.
This simply means the ‘Mr Champions League’ could return to the biggest stage should Newcastle qualify. As it stands, Newcastle is on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League, as they sit third in the Premier League table, and could leap for the league when they face Arsenal later tonight.
