‘It’s ridiculous.’ Erling Haaland continues to shatter Premier League records.
As Erling Haaland continues to set records in the Premier League, records are frequently broken by extremely small margins, resulting in a new standard that gradually becomes somewhat comparable to the old one.
However, Erling Haaland’s records are different because he has spent this season obliterating them beyond any recognizable shape.
Haaland broke yet another record on Saturday by scoring in Manchester City‘s 4-0 victory over Southampton, becoming the fastest player to score 15 English Premier League goals.
It took Andy Cole, a former Manchester United and Newcastle United striker, 15 games to set the previous mark. Haaland only required nine.
With these 15 goals, Haaland has already matched City’s top league scorer from its 2021/22 title-winning season, Kevin de Bruyne. Since joining City from Borussia Dortmund over the summer, Haaland has scored 20 goals in 13 games for City across all competitions.

Pat Nevin, a former Scotland winger, told the BBC, “It is incredible, we often use phrases like that, and it’s hyperbole.
“But it’s not with Erling Haaland. He is quite ridiculous. No one can name anyone that is anything like him. His physicality, his ridiculous pace, eye for goal – it’s extraordinary.”
In response to his dominance and his third consecutive hat trick against Manchester United last weekend, opposing supporters jokingly started a petition to ban him “because it’s just not fair.”
Haaland has such high standards for himself that he actually saw his goalscoring rate drop from 1.75 to 1.67 per game after scoring just one goal in a game.
According to ESPN FC, After the Southampton game, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola reportedly said, “I’m so upset with him.”
“He didn’t score three goals so that’s why the petition to sack him from the Premier League isn’t going to happen.”
After beating Southampton, City moved to the top of the standings for the first time this year and is still one of the teams with a perfect record across all four of England’s top divisions.
