With none of the artists on this list winning this awards, they, however, deserve the mention as to be on the list, they would have done a very commendable job.

Being most Nigerian artists dream to be Grammy award nominees, it is, however, important to note that the number of artists who have bagged a grammy award nomination in Nigeria is very few.

Some of the few who have the privilege to be nominated were however featured on the track of a foreign artist that bagged the nomination, giving them the privileged to be nominated.

    • Seun Kuti – Black Times

On this List is the son of Afrobeat legend  Fela Kuti.  Seun Kuti who seems to be very vocal with speaking against the ills of the society and more engaged with activism over music was nominated in 2014 for the Best World Music Album with his work Black Times.

    • Femi Kuti – Here’s No Place for My Dream

Also on this list is another son of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti. Femi Kuti whose album was also originally nominated for the category of Best Contemporary music album in 2010,  Best World Music Album in 2003, 2012 and 2014 respectively, the son  of the music legend stands as the Nigerian artist with the highest amount of Grammy Nomination. Nominated in 2003 with his Fight to Win Album, Femi Kuti also got nominated in 2010 for his Day by Day album, also bagging a nomination in 2012 with his Africa for Africa album, Femi Kuti was last nominated in 2014 for his No Place for My Dream Album.

    • Timaya – Balance

Not bagging an original nomination, Timaya was privileged to get a nomination for the category of Best Reggae album as a result of his collaboration with Morgan Heritage for featuring alongside Stoneboy on Avrakedabra. Nominated in 2018for the category of  Best Reggae albums, Timaya remains one of the few Nigerian artists with the privilege of appearing on the Grammy nomination list for someone else’s work.

    • Wizkid – Joro

Another artist that has been privileged to bag a Grammy nomination for the song of another artist is one of the greatest artists in the Nigerian music scene Wikid. Nominated in 2015 for his collaboration with Drake Views, Wizkid is another artist who was privileged to be on the list of Nigerian Grammy nominee as a result of his collaboration with Drake and not his original work.

    • Burna Boy -Odogwu

Topping the Nominee list is self-acclaimed African Giant Burna Boy. Burna Boy who lost the grammies to fellow African artist Angelique Kidjo had a great year musically as he was recognized globally for his work, bagging a Grammy and BRIT nominee.

Nominated for Best World Album in 2020 with his 2019 work African giant, Burna boy also bagged a Grammy nomination for his collaboration with Rock band Fall Out Boy in 2019, for the category of Best Rock Album.
