It’s been a bone of contention as to who wrote Burna Boy’s 2018’s hit song, “On the low”. While Ceeza Milli claims he wrote part of the song, Burna Boy said he didn’t.
The drama started when a Twitter user praised Ceeza Milli for writing “On the low”. Burna Boy got angry about the fact that Ceeza Milli has taken the glory for writing “On the low” and threatened to beat him up if he catches him.
Twitter Influencer/Artist, John NetworQ reprimanded Burna Boy for being too harsh on Ceeza Milli to which Burna Boy admitted he overreacted but said Ceeza Milli deserved being beaten for ‘lying’. He then apologized.
Ceeza Milli took to his Instagram to insist that he actually wrote “On the Low”, saying he was invited to his label, Aristokrat records to work on a project with another label mate featuring Burna Boy.
He said that the beat which was produced by Kel P was recorded for another person who at that time had not voiced on it yet. So when he heard the beat, he made the intro to the song on his phone and they recorded the song.
He said even though Burna Boy changed part of the song that particular day and that some of his label Executives were in the studio that day. He expressed his disappointment with Burna Boy‘s threats saying he is not the only artist to have songwriters.
He said it was unfortunate that then he had no knowledge of legal documentation of Intellectual property collaboration as a split sheet would have vindicated him.
The boss of Aristokrat Record, Piriye Isokari waded into the matter and tweeted,
To set the record straight @ar_records did not have any label execs present at the session that “On The Low” was written or recorded. While a gifted songwriter @ceezamilli was not engaged to write nor did he write “On The Low”.
For the record I have never had any help writing any song Ever. Except one time and that was with @Peruzzi
