Burna Boy is ‘Artist of the Year’, two years in a row. And who knows, the maestro who has no competition could carry on next season and continue the streak.
And that would be history, wouldn’t it? No doubt, the guy is King and he has made a very great impression and a mark on the music industry in Nigeria.
Since his hit “Ye” broke out last year and became the song of the year, Burna has gone on to deliver some of the biggest jams that have hit the continent. Talk of “Killin Dem”, “Dangote”, “Anybody”, “Pull Up” and so much more. He even dropped an album, “African Giant” and he’s been selling out shows overseas, topping charts, breaking records. It’s safe to say the man is now legendary.
There was a time when he was just the Burna Boy everyone loved, though. In fact, he was a dancehall/reggae star, the Don Gorgon who we thought would be Nigeria’s, Bob Marley. That was before Afro came in, and he was more of a Fela. Even back then, he was a big one and he still did quite a number of impressive hits that were also very hot, back in the day. Well, we at “Mp3bullet.ng” bring to you throwback of those jams that you can totally put on your playlist to spice it up, right now!

Won Da Mo ft. D’banj
This is another side of Burna Boy that we haven’t experienced in quite a while, the trappy feel he brings when he jumps on hip-hop beats. Last time he did was on Phyno’s “Link Up”.
Anyway, “Won Da Mo” featured Bangalee and it was a big one on the TV screens, that year. New fans probably never heard something like this before, because it’s a whole different style coming from Burna.

Check and Balance
Yeah, really. Wasn’t kidding when I said Burna used to be the future of ‘dancehall’ around here. “Check and Balance” is a dancehall song that quickly became a hit on the streets. Getting played alongside such big jams like Timaya’s “Sanko” and Tiwa Savage’s “Keys to the City”, also dancehall mega jams.
This is an electric vibe you can’t get tired of. Burna really got that energy, you know. Not a fluke.

Yawa Dey
Even according to the views on YouTube, “Yawa Dey” remains one of Burna’s most commercially successful bangers, till date. Also a dancehall vibe, it was a big hit in 2014, on the dance floor, in the clubs, on the streets, on TV and even radio. Online also, it was buzzing. Everywhere. Burna has been killing it since way back!

Run My Race
This jam is weird, and it has that big, strong and weird confidence Burna Boy exudes. It’s got a very electric vibe, a pattern that doesn’t fit into anything in particular, we would just settle for ragga/hip-hop or whatever.
“Run My Race” which was from his debut album, has the pop star singing like he’s Lagbaja, with his bassy deep voice. “They wan follow me run my race, E be like say dem don dey craze…”

Soke
This is one of Burna Boy’s best Afro works, till date, as it doesn’t only mirror the works of Fela Kuti, in the instrumentation. It also has satirical content, that is only reminiscent of the late Afrobeat Legend.
“Soke” is, like most of all his songs, also electric and the fact that it’s got Burna Boy singing about the state of the nation and the vices, is just out of this world!

Like To Party
Burna Boy broke out into the mainstream with “Like To Party”, an afro/hip-hop vibe that sounds kind of foreign for a PH boy. It became a nationwide hit, and within a short time, it was disturbing the airwaves.
“Like To Party” is like the beginning of Burna’s career, as it is the song that introduced him to us, back in the day when Wizkid and Davido were the only big ones. He was instantly on our ‘most-promising’ list, and big things started from there.

Rizzla
“Rizzla” is one of those songs you just like because it’s Burna that’s doing it. If any other artist was to do it, even word for word it still wouldn’t be as good as what Burna did on there. A street hit, if you will, “Rizzla” is one of the best hits you won’t be able to get over!
In Summary; Below are the List of the throwback songs from Burna:
