Veteran singer; sir victor reignites #50 million Naira lawsuit against Simi.
Before now, Sir Victor kept silent over his threat to sue the “By you” singer. He has however just recently ended his silence.
Sir Uwaifo first released the song “Joromi” in 1969. The word itself has no perpetual meaning as it was originated by the singer himself.
In January 2017, Simi released her own song with the same title, the song was a massive hit as at then.
There were no issues until in July 2018 when Sir victor rose up against Simi and threatened to sue saying she was in trouble. The highlife singer was set to file a #50 million Naira lawsuit against her for copyright infringement.
People, however, thought both parties had settled the case amicably as it was not spoken off after then.
Sir Victor, however, reignited the matter during a recent interview with Sahara reporters.
Confirming the lawsuit, he said;
“We’re in court already, I sued her at the federal high court for N50 million. They will be coming to court”
When asked if the singer reached out to him privately, he said no. He said the only contact they had was between their lawyers.
The veteran singer also went on to explain that he went ahead with the suit because Simi didn’t bother giving proper credit to him on the song.
