No doubt Teni is the hottest female artist, around here. And for a while now, she’s been so on top of her game nobody holds a candle to her. Not even Peruzzi, who would have won the Next Rated Award, if she wasn’t on the list.
But that didn’t just happen in one day, with one single or two collaborations or a viral Instagram or YouTube video, no. It’s back-to-back hits, and a really organic build-up to get here. She was on a spree, dropping every now and then.
I mean, you don’t become a big one like Teni, without many bad-ass stuff to your name. Maybe you’re a fan of Teni, there’s a chance you’re missing out on some of her hot old singles. Or maybe you’re still a skeptic? It’s time to feel what we’re all feeling, man.
Here is the best of Teni Makanaki, and you most certainly need something like this, RN.
Case
When you’ve got a very beautiful voice like Teni’s, you will definitely want to slap police for your lover’s case. It’s just so cool when Teni is that girl with the love.
“Case” is also one of her biggest hits, a favorite of fans. Not strange, it’s got such a good vibe.
Uyo Meyo
A vibe that can lighten up the mood and lift the soul (“gbe soul eh”), will definitely penetrate deep. People wanna live their lives and have fun, and do their thing. What happens when the music is just so good, the vibe is always perfect? They get what they want, and what happens? Hit, yes, a big hit at that.
“Uyo Meyo” was a sleeper hit, and slowly it’s become an anthem, on the streets, everywhere. Just imagine banging “Uyo Meyo” in your car, on the way to work. If you don’t have this track, your Teni game is incomplete.
Fargin
Teniola goes way back, really. “Fargin” was her break-out single. Most of her earliest fans got to know her with this single.
The Mystro-produced jam had not just pure vibes, but also a detailed story-line, perfect arrangement, a bang instrumental (that almost sounds like a live performance). In short, every essential thing a song needs to become a hit.
Like her sister, Niniola, she did say some X-Rated stuff, though. “don’t take it personal… ”
Foti Foyin
Actually not her single, but it’s worth the mention. Who would have thought our Teni would be able to pull off some real Zanku vibe? After all she’s just another singer. Except she’s not.
“Foti Foyin” demonstrates her versatility, as she rides a high tempo track, alongside rappers, dropping an irresistible melody. She even rapped a few bars. “Make money money, make money money, me I cannot kill myself. ”
Power Rangers
Her recent one is “Power Rangers” and it sounds exactly like a couple of her previous jams. A mid-tempo highlife track, it’s got music. And I mean, real music.
You don’t even have to understand the language or even hear the lyrics, to catch the feeling! It’s one of the best singles available in the industry, at the moment, no jokes.
Gele
Maybe it’s just a commercial, yeah. But it’s better than that. The song which she made for Airtel’s 4G Commercial, and has been featured on a couple of the tecno’s adverts, is also another banging highlife track, with an uncommon Afro feel.
Best of Teni wouldn’t be finished without it. It’s actually one of the bests. Really.
Pray
You know you got something rolling when you can put the best from 042 on your track. “Pray” which features Igbo hip-hop singer, Phyno, is probably big because of Phyno. Maybe not.
Every Teni jam is a real jam, don’t forget.
Askamaya
One of her old ones that was hot at the time of release. It’s a great one, to start with. A party starter, “Askamaya” is Teni’s attempt at making club jams. It worked! Right?
Fake Jersey
It’s 2018, and the Super Eagles are playing in the prestigious World Cup. Also, the expensive new jerseys have been rolled out, sold out actually.
Teni decided to cash in on the moment and she did the “Fake Jersey ” which was an instant hit. It also did a great deal in lifting the status of the Super Eagles team. On record, at least. Teni also paid homage to some icons, like Amokachi. It was really a great one. There was no reason it shouldn’t be a hit?
Lagos
Released together with “Askamaya”, it’s definitely worth banging if you want to stay on top your Teni game. Yeah, right.
