Ruger is out with a new single, All Of Us.
- Artiste Name: Ruger
- Song Title: All Of Us
- Genre: Afrobeats
- Country: Nigeria
- Year: 2023
Nigerian singer, Ruger has opted to swipe at his industry colleagues in his latest piece, All Of Us.
As usual, Ruger dishes his carefree and sarcastic vibes in this song, with shots this time around fired at celebrities for using Instagram to encourage fake lifestyles and oppress those who can’t match up to these unhealthy standards.
A more beautiful aspect is how he remains true to his subtle branding in all his music videos, which can be termed “a pink atmosphere.”
This song reminds us that Ruger is a playful artist who wants us to relax and shake our bodies to good music.
However, some things seem to be lacking in this song.
Beginning with the lyrics, although the message points towards originality, the lyrics itself doesn’t possess so much pen power, depth and originality. They instead fall into familiar tropes and clichés everyone is aware of, thus failing to offer anything fresh or insightful that can make one look inward, as is the intent of his song.
Also, the song’s structure leans heavily on repetition, both melodically and lyrically. While this can contribute to its catchiness, it also risks becoming monotonous over time.
Except for the fact this is a long-standing norm with most music videos because of the marketing power it possesses, there is little to no explanation for this flaw, which reduces the almost excellence of the song.
Ruger’s All of Us is perfect for starting the party and keeping the energy high. His impressive control and voice dynamics make the song more appealing so that one can contract an earworm.
