Lionel Messi reveals reason behind ‘hard’ first PSG season.
Lionel Messi claims he feels more settled at Paris Saint-Germain after a tough first season in the French capital.
After an unexpected and stunning exit from Barcelona, the Argentine star scored only six league goals in 2021–2022, the lowest total since his first season at Barcelona in 2006–07.
But, he has returned to form this season, scoring 13 goals and dishing out 12 assists in 21 Ligue 1 outing, in addition to his World Cup victory with Argentina in the winter.
Messi has now acknowledged that he needed some time to adjust after leaving Barça.

He told PSG’s in-house media: “The truth is I feel great. The first year I had a hard time adapting to Paris for different reasons.
“This season I started differently, with a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of desire. [I’m] more comfortable with the club, the city and everything that Paris means.”
Messi, who opened the scoring in PSG’s 4-2 victory over Nantes on Saturday, must be at his best for this week’s Champions League rematch against Bayern Munich.
Kingsley Coman’s goal gave Bayern a 1-0 win in the first leg, leaving PSG needing to replicate their triumph at the Allianz Arena in 2021. PSG defeated Bayern Munich 3-2 in a game that was played in secret, but they have lost five of their past six meetings overall.
