1. The singer won the category for “Best Melodic Rap Performance” on Sunday night for her work on Future and Drake’s smash hit song “Wait for U,” making her the first female Nigerian musician to do so.
2. She made history by becoming the first Nigerian artist to be nominated for an Oscar for her work on Rihanna’s song “Lift Me Up,” which was produced for the film “Wakanda Forever.”
3. The Essence crooner’s appearance on Future’s Wait For U in 2022 made her the first Nigerian artist to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
4. The first female Nigerian artist to debut solo on the Billboard Hot 100. On July 25, 2020, Tems‘ solo song “Free Mind,” from her “Broken Ears EP,” made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
