Tottenham have revealed that Antonio Conte will undergo surgery to remove his gallbladder after being diagnosed with cholecystitis.
Spurs have issued an official statement confirming that Conte will be absent from the touchline for a “period of recuperation” after the surgery.
The Italian coach has been suffering from “severe abdominal pain” that requires emergency attention, with his surgery booked in for Wednesday.
In the following games, Cristian Stellini, Conte’s assistant, will take control of the first team.

“Antonio Conte recently became unwell with severe abdominal pain,” the club statement reads. “Following a diagnosis of cholecystitis, he will be undergoing surgery to remove his gallbladder today and will return following a period of recuperation. Everyone at the Club wishes him well.”

Although a specific timeline for Conte’s recovery has not been provided, he will undoubtedly miss Sunday’s Premier League match between Spurs and Manchester City.
Six days later, Spurs are set to travel to Leicester City, and then on February 14, they will play Milan in the opening leg of their round of 16 Champions League matchups.
