BREAKING NEWS: Raheem Sterling WILL return to England’s World Cup base in Qatar on Friday ahead of the France game.
Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling will return to England’s World Cup base to join the squad in Qatar ahead of the upcoming game with France, the FA has confirmed.
After armed thieves broke into the home and stole hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of belongings, the England star and former Man City player flew back to his residence close to Surrey to check on his fiance and two children.
Despite reports that no one’s life was in immediate danger as a result of the burglary, Sterling reaffirmed that he would not join the Three Lions team until he could ensure the safety of his loved ones.
And in a brief statement, they have now confirmed Sterling’s plans. The statement read: ‘Raheem Sterling will return to England’s World Cup base in Qatar.
‘The Chelsea forward temporarily left to attend to a family matter but is now expected to rejoin the squad in Al Wakrah on Friday ahead of the quarter-final with France.’
His return to the squad was confirmed by England’s official account on Thursday.

It is quite doubtful that Sterling will start on Saturday night because he will have missed significant portions of important training.
However, he will provide an added option, especially should England progress to the semi-final and potentially beyond.
Shortly after it emerged that Sterling was to leave on Sunday evening Sterling’s spokesperson said armed raiders had entered his property while his family were at home and that he was, understandably, keen to get back.
Police later clarified that there had been no complaints of armed intruders and that the family had found the theft of jewellery and watches when they had returned from Qatar.
Following reports of suspicious activity in Oxshott, Surrey Police announced on Wednesday morning that they had detained two men on suspicion of burglary. They added that they were investigating whether those detained were associated with the nearby burglary at Sterling’s house.
On Tuesday night, the men were seen acting suspiciously in a garden while a helicopter and dog unit were in the area.
A short while later, the force released another statement in which they denied that they saw any relationship.
They have not yet made any arrests, but they are still looking into the report of a break-in at Sterling’s house.
A spokesperson added: ‘Officers are carrying out enquiries into the circumstances and the investigation remains on going.’
