The Croatian captain Luka Modric has set yet another impressive milestone in world football becoming the first player to feature in World Cup and EURO in three different decades.
In their group F matchup for the FIFA World Cup 2022, Croatia and Morocco have squared off with a goalless draw. These two sides faced one another for the first time at a World Cup. They only participated in one game, which Croatia won on penalties back in 1996.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup finalists (Croatia) will look forward to starting off their campaign on a winning note but that did not happen. Their game day is even more special for their skipper Luka Modric.
The Croatian skipper creates a unique record today when he steps on the field. Luka Modric is the first player ever in football history to feature in World Cups and EURO Championships in three different decades.

Luka made his senior Croatian team debut in 2006, and this will be his 155th outing for his country. In a friendly game against Italy, Modric made his international debut against Argentina and scored his first goal for his country.
At the FIFA World Cup in 2006, 2014, and 2018, as well as the UEFA European Championship in 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020, Luka Modric was a member of the squad. He became the lone Croatian to receive this distinction in history.
After Darijo Srna retired, Modri was named the new team captain for Croatia’s 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign. Modric led his team to the FIFA World Cup finals in 2018, where they lost to France. The 2018 FIFA World Cup’s Golden Boot Award went to Luka Modric.
Croatia is placed in group F of the FIFA World Cup 2022 which has Belgium, Morocco and Canada. Apart from Morocco, all the other three teams in the group are tough opponents, especially Belgium. So, Croatia will be looking forward to having yet another successful campaign on football’s grandest stage.
