BREAKING: Liverpool have been put up for sale by Fenway Sports Group after 12 years of ownership.
Liverpool Football Club have been put up for sale with Fenway Sports Group looking for new owners to buy the Premier League club and take them forwards
The Premier League team’s owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), have put Liverpool up for sale. According to The Athletic, the owners have prepared a comprehensive presentation for interested parties.
According to reports, they have hired Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs to help with the club sale process. Although it is accepting proposals, it is unclear how much interest there is and whether a transaction will actually be made.
A statement from Fenway Sports Group to The Athletic read: “There have been a number of recent changes of ownership and rumours of changes in ownership at EPL clubs and inevitably we are asked regularly about Fenway Sports Group’s ownership in Liverpool.

“FSG has frequently received expressions of interest from third parties seeking to become shareholders in Liverpool. FSG has said before that under the right terms and conditions we would consider new shareholders if it was in the best interests of Liverpool as a club.
“FSG remains fully committed to the success of Liverpool, both on and off the pitch.”
In October 2010, FSG took control of Liverpool after purchasing the team from George Gillett Jr. and Tom Hicks. Since then, the company has overseen major transformations both on and off the field, including a brand-new training facility and a sizable investment in the modernization of Anfield.
Led by John W. Henry, FSG has faced plenty of criticism in recent years. Attempts to trademark the name Liverpool were met with fierce resistance, as were plans to form the Super League in 2021.
Tom Werner, the club’s chairman, said back in May that FSG still had long-term intentions for the organization, but the group now seems ready to walk away from Liverpool.
