Chelsea appoints a new Co-Director of Recruitment and Talent.
Chelsea Football Club has officially announced the arrival of a new Co-Director of Recruitment and Talent. The club have appointed Joe Shields as Co-Director of Recruitment and Talent.
After adding Laurence Stewart as technical director and preparing to announce Christopher Vivell’s appointment as sports director, the club revealed his appointment as co-director of recruitment and talent.
Joe Shields joins from Southampton, where he is Head of Senior Recruitment. Shields is responsible for the Saints’ senior recruitment.
Shields worked for Manchester City for nine years prior to his position at Southampton, first as head of academy recruitment and talent management and later as academy scouting manager. He worked as an academy scout for Crystal Palace and Fulham earlier in his career.

Shields will begin in his new position after his duties with Southampton are over.
