Peter Schmeichel explains why PSG won’t win the Champions League.
Former Manchester United goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel, has revealed why Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won’t win the Champions League title this season.
He believes that PSG won’t win the Champions League title this season because of its defence.
Schmeichel harped on the lack of defending from PSG’s expensive front three, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, and Lionel Messi, and the lack of protection they provide without the ball.
He made this statement following PSG’s 7-2 victory over Maccabi Haifa in their Champions League match on Tuesday.

Messi, Mbappe and Neymar all scored for PSG against Maccabi Haifa.
“When you talk about them winning the Champions League, I think the problem they have also showed today. So, when they are 4-0 up, all of a sudden, it is 4-2. They need to score a lot of goals to win games and it’s not always going to happen,” Schmeichel said on CBS Sports after the game.
“I think they are terrible at defending and that is also because of the three front players [Messi Mbappe and Neymar],” he added.
“When you’re at the stadium, and you see how little they take part in defending. “Everybody else, Bayern Munich, Man City – all of those teams – it is eleven players attacking, eleven players defending, and I think in modern day football that is what you need.
“And that I could see could be a problem in one game against Manchester City and one game against Real Madrid. That is enough to get knocked out.”
