Former Bayern Munich player, who has been one of the best footballers at the club, has announced his retirement from football at the age of 39.

Franck Ribery has revealed that he has put his boots away with the announcement of his retirement from football at the age of 39.

Ribery played for nine clubs during the course of his 22-year career, the last of which was Serie A team Salernitana. His most productive spell came at Bayern Munich where he scored 86 goals in 273 games.

Between 2008 and 2019, he assisted the German team with nine Bundesliga victories and the 2013 Champions League triumph. Ribery also played for Galatasaray, Marseille, and Fiorentina and won 19 trophies in total, including the Club World Cup.

The veteran played 81 times for France and won a silver medal at the 2006 World Cup. Perhaps Ribery’s contribution to the Bayern team that won the Champions League will be most warmly recalled since he and Arjen Robben were devastating on the wings.

The Frenchman was recognised for his performances that year by finishing third in the 2013 Ballon d’Or, but he felt he should have won the prize instead of Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, The former France winger took to social media to reveal the news about his retirement from football. He wrote on Twitter:

“The ball stops. The feelings inside me do not. Thanks to everyone for this great adventure. ????????.”

Der Ball ruht. Die Gefühle in mir nicht. ✨
Le ballon s’arrette mais pas mes sentiments pour lui. ✨
Il pallone si ferma. Le emozioni dentro di me, no. ✨

Thanks to everyone for this great adventure. 🙏🏼#FR7 #Elhamdoulillah pic.twitter.com/Ku4i1MeEbE
