Over the years, there have been Nigerian songs that have been dedicated to women as they are one of the themes that have inspired song lyrics.
While some songs focus on the heartbreaks gained at the hands of women, others are dedicated to celebrating their strengths and achievements.
So in the spirit of International Women’s Day, here are 6 Nigerian Songs that celebrate women.

Beautiful Onyinye- P-square
Off their ‘Invasion‘ album, defunct music group, P-square gave fans a timeless classic. The romantic ballad features Rick Ross. The song is a beautiful representation of love.
Ada Ada- Flavour
Flavour is a known worshipper of women in his songs. The Contemporary highlife singer knows how to create the perfect tune when it comes to praising women.
On ‘Ada Ada‘ he created one of the timeless pieces that celebrate women, most especially first daughters.
The love inspired tune was released in 2012 and part of his studio album ‘Blessed’. The tune is a favourite at traditional marriage ceremonies, especially in Eastern Nigeria.
Virtuous Woman- Flavour
“Like the moon and the sun, She is worth more than gold”, Flavour sings on ‘Virtuous woman‘. The song was released off his “Ijele The Traveller” album.
The love inspired tune is an ode to women and the sacrifices they make for their loved ones.
Wonder Woman- Davido
“Wonder Woman” was dropped in 2018 to round-off Davido’s very good outing in that year. The song talked about the importance of women as well as bring to the fore their many great achievements.
In the music video, Davido features his baby mamas and other popular female celebrities.
Woman- Tekno
On ‘Woman‘, Tekno expresses firmly the importance of women and how they shouldn’t be restricted to certain roles as they deserved equal rights with men.
He also spoke indirectly against the isolation of the roles of women in society and in a tune-full fashion, advocated that they be given the same privilege such as being given to men.
Interestingly it was dropped on International Women Day in 2019.

African Queen- 2Baba
Arguably one of the biggest African songs which took the continent and the world by storm.
It was composed and released in 2004 by 2Baba who went by the name 2Face Idibia back then.
The song is about the glorification of African beauty and the video for the remix was released to commemorate his fourth wedding anniversary with his wife, Annie Idibia, who featured in the 2004 original video
The song was used in the 2006 American movie, Phat Girlz.
