Apple Music Charts Are Like Report Cards Now — Zlatan Ibile
-
Zlatan speaks out about the pressure that Apple Music places on artists.
Zlatan Ibile, CEO of Zanku Records, has discussed the pressure artists face to perform well on the music charts, especially Apple Music.
The Nigerian rapper compared the music chart to a report card during an interview with Adesope Olajide on the Afrobeats podcast.
He explained how it has become a daily ritual for him and many other musicians to check the charts, adding that they use Apple Music to monitor how their songs are doing.
He also acknowledged the additional pressure this places on artists.
“Chart is like report card now. Every artiste that wakes up in the morning, most of us before we pray, we will go to Apple Music.
“Before the next day, we’ll go to the chart to see where it (song) will be the next day.
“It has become a whole stress,” he said.
During the same interview, Zlatan Ibile also revealed how The DMW boss, Davido is important to Afrobeats and to him as a person.
Speaking to Adesope, Zlatan spoke candidly on the value of the award-winning musician Davido to Afrobeats and to him personally.
Zlatan stated that David is a blessing to Afrobeats and to him and that the awful tragedy that occurred to him was unfortunate. He did, however, thank fans for their love and support for the singer’s fourth studio album, ‘Timeless.’
