Speculations garnered in the early hours of yesterday about the beef between Zinoleesky and Seyi Vibez, and here is our submission.
Artistes beef has been invoked since time immemorial. It is a breeding ground for a healthy music competition and rivalry, but in some cases, it leads to the excessive use of verbal assaults, and if not well managed, could turn out physically violent. Burna and Davido’s Ghana feud can best describe this issue.
Beef well managed, provides a broader perspective of music representation and a reason to engage an artiste. It is a fuel that keeps one in the conversation and a study ground for making progress.
For instance, a series of beef has been ongoing for years – we had Burna and Davido, Tiwa Savage and Seyi Shay, Ruger and Buju and many more.
While Nigerians were yet merrying the ascension of a new president and new government, hints at a beef between Zinoleesky and Seyi Vibez hit the ground.
It all started when Zinoleesky took to his Instagram story to ask his fans if he should drop a snippet to “unsettle things”
Two hours later, Seyi Vibez also used Instagram to respond to an upcoming “unknown” clip.
Seyi Vibez claims that anyone is welcome to share a sample because his music library is similarly well-stocked. Seyi continued by making a subtly offensive remark about how she is independent while other artists are still reliant on their record labels.
These speculations led to discussions among fans, as both singers were compared to their artistic deliveries and stardom reach in the industry.
Prior to this, the discussion of comparison has been about Vibez and YBNL’s hottest breakout, Asake – as both singers were said to have been singing alike.
Zinoleesky on the other hand crept a new sound into the game – he developed his niche and made waves with his unique sound.
Also, both artistes have not been in the news for such beef and so, this opens the ground for the debate about their relevance and contribution to the growth of Afrobeats.
Regarding hits, their music catalogue is a testament to their hard work, dedication over the years, creative process and deliveries!
From a personal standpoint, Zinoleesky has a calm personality, one who loves to enjoy music as a lover boy with a seductive mode of music presentation. His vocals easily sways off his listeners and this has expanded the love the opposite sex has for him.
Seyi on the other hand has a strong personality, a drive that urges the street and promotes the hustling spirit. He is a singer for the ‘boys’ and he is more loved from the nooks and crannies of the hood.
No doubt, both singers have had their taste of the icing in the reach for hits, but as the popular saying goes, all fingers are not equal.
Personally, Zinoleesky is steps ahead of Seyi Vibez in terms of adaptation, acceptance from a wider audience and number of hits produced.
A list of Zino’s hit catalogue based on street acceptance and replay value includes Mapariwo, Kilofeshe, Blessings, Naira Marley, Call of Duty, Loving You, Rocking, Gone Far and many more.
In a similar vein, Seyi Vibez has Chance, Para Boi, Bullion Van, Billion Dollar Baby, Para Mode, amongst others.
Even in terms of featured songs, Zino has a clear mark – he tagged on BNXN’s Kilometer Remix, Ayra Starr’s Lonely Refix, the latest being his hook on AG Baby’s Party No Dey Stop and a host of others. To Be honest, the same could not be said about Seyi Vibez, yet.
Thus, in the comparison between Zinoleesky and Seyi Vibez, be sure the former has what it takes to edge over his counterpart.
