Award-winning Nigerian singer Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, professionally known as Wizkid, has openly fired back at Seun Kuti following days of verbal jabs and online tension between the two camps.

Taking to the Instagram Stories section of his verified page, Wizkid responded directly to Seun Kuti, boldly claiming he is “bigger than Fela Anikulapo-Kuti,” the legendary Afrobeat pioneer and Seun’s late father.
Seun Kuti, who has repeatedly criticised Wizkid FC, has often described the fanbase as ignorant for referring to Wizkid as the “New Fela.”
The Afrobeat musician has also taken several swipes at Wizkid personally, questioning the spirituality of his music and suggesting that Wizkid’s success lacks depth compared to his father’s legacy.
In previous comments, Seun further claimed that Wizkid’s fanbase could not fill stadiums, unlike Davido’s 30BG or Burna Boy’s Outsiders, while also boasting about his father’s historic achievements as the creator of Afrobeat.
The exchange escalated when Wizkid reposted a video on his Instagram Stories in which a lady referred to both Fela and Seun Kuti as “mad,” signalling the beginning of his public response.
Wizkid then went a step further, posting a strongly worded message directly addressing Seun Kuti. In the post, he dismissed Seun’s relevance and took a personal swipe at his age and influence.
“Pussyboy @bigbirdkuti, ok I big pass your papa, wetin u wan do? Fool at 40,” Wizkid wrote.
He also followed up with a post on X (formerly Twitter), contrasting Fela’s activism with Seun’s online arguments.
“Fela fight for freedom, this fool dey fight FC! Oloshi omo ale!” he tweeted.
The heated exchange has since ignited intense reactions across social media, with fans of both artists debating legacy, relevance, spirituality, and the boundaries between musical greatness and cultural impact.
As of now, Seun Kuti has yet to issue a direct response to Wizkid’s latest remarks.
