Global sensation Yemi Alade has opened up about her remarkable 14-year career in the music industry, sharing insights into her setbacks, victories, and the changes she has witnessed.

“Mama Africa,” renowned for her electrifying performances, attributes her enduring relevance to understanding her life’s path, resilience, and an unwavering love for music.

Yemi Alade made her musical debut in 2010 with her track “Fimile,” featuring Eldee The Don, and has since built an impressive career. “Officially, I have been in the industry for 14 years, counting from when I released my first song titled ‘Fimisile,’ featuring Eldee tha Don,” she said.

“I love music. It is actually the one thing that I am gifted at. I am deeply rooted and connected to music. It has chosen me as its messenger,” Yemi Alade expressed.

Reflecting on the industry’s challenges, she noted, “The music industry has always been tough, even before I showed any interest in it. And it will continue to be tough. However, it is said that ‘tough times never last but tough people do’. I believe that the strongest will always survive.”

Yemi Alade has stirred up a flurry of reactions online with her recent statements concerning the changing landscape of genre exploration among Afrobeats musicians.

Alade’s remarks, circulated through a viral post on her social media platform on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, addressed the growing trend of Nigerian artists publicly transitioning from Afrobeats to other genres, notably Afrofusion.

In her statement, Alade acknowledged the validity of artists announcing shifts in genre but stressed the importance of the manner in which such declarations are made. She emphasized that the way artists communicate these changes holds significant weight.
