Wole Soyinka says Davido does not owe an apology to Muslims
Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has spoken out in defense of the award-winning singer, Davido, who faced criticism from some Muslims for promoting a music video deemed disrespectful to their religion.
The literary icon supported Davido by referencing a viral video of aggrieved youths in Maiduguri protesting against the music video.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Soyinka argued that Davido should not apologize to the protestors. He pointed out how the former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El Rufai, had made derogatory comments against Christians in the past but was not asked to apologize.
