Wizkid’s ‘Piece of My Heart’ sets new record on YouTube Nigeria
Nigerian artist Wizkid has achieved a remarkable feat on YouTube Nigeria with his latest single, “Piece of My Heart,” featuring Brent Faiyaz, which continues to shatter streaming records.
Released on October 18, 2024, the track has rapidly gained traction across various streaming platforms.
Notably, “Piece of My Heart” has set a new record for the highest weekly streams on YouTube Nigeria, accumulating 1.20 million streams and surpassing the previous record of 1.18 million streams held by Fireboy DML’s “Peru” remix featuring Ed Sheeran.
This achievement follows the single’s record-breaking performance on Spotify Nigeria, where it garnered the largest opening day streams, eclipsing the previous record he held with Asake’s “MMS.”
Incorporating an R&B fusion with a mid-tempo bounce, “Piece of My Heart” is also the first song from any African artist to surpass 1 million streams on its opening day on Spotify.
Wizkid’s latest success underscores his status as one of Nigeria’s leading commercial artists and highlights the growing trend of streaming in the country, particularly on YouTube, which remains one of the most popular digital platforms in Nigeria.
This single marks the beginning of the “Morayo” era for the Grammy-winning artist, who is set to release his highly anticipated sixth album on November 22, 2024.
